The Monterrey native Daniel Suárez is about to experience a historic race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City as the NASCAR Cup Series arrives. Suárez, from Trackhouse Racing, will race in the first international points-paying NASCAR Cup Series event outside of the United States during NASCAR Mexico City Weekend in June.
At a press conference on February 26, Suárez explained how he had to work hard to get to where he is, not coming from a wealthy family or from the world of racing. "I don't come from a family of money or racing. I have had to work very hard to achieve every single thing that has come my way in life," he mentioned.
The NASCAR Mexico City Weekend sports event will bring together not only the NASCAR Cup Series but also the NASCAR Xfinity Series (the second most important division) and the NASCAR Mexico Series (local). Suárez believes that racing in the NASCAR Cup Series in Mexico is a dream come true, especially after becoming the first Mexican to win a NASCAR Cup race in the United States in 2022.
The driver recalls the challenges he faced at the beginning of his career, mentioning that he had to live in North Carolina with little money, learning English and risking everything to achieve his goals. Suárez longs to race in front of his people and compete in the top division of stock cars. The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez will host the three NASCAR categories from June 13 to 15, 2025, with an anticipated attendance of 243,000 people over the three days of events.
The circuit for the NASCAR Cup Series at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez will feature a shortened layout in turn four, measuring 3.8 kilometers in length and featuring 15 turns. The altitude of the track, located 2,285 meters above sea level, and its non-oval configuration are characteristics that make it unique in the championship. Broadcasts of the NASCAR Mexico City Weekend will be available on Fox Sports, with additional coverage on El Financiero Deportes.
Daniel Suárez emphasizes the difficult path he traveled to reach this point in his career, recalling his humble beginnings and the determination that led him to overcome obstacles in the racing world. The NASCAR Cup Series in Mexico represents an important milestone for motorsports in the country and an opportunity for Suárez to compete in his homeland.
